Internet Users Busted 19 Myths That Have Baffled Everyone for Years

Taking into account that the Flat Earth Theory still causes hot debate, it’s easy to imagine how many obvious at first sight things can baffle people. It turns out that some of us have the wrong opinion, even about everyday products like eggs, honey, and nuts. The good thing is that it’s never too late to learn new things and it’s always interesting.

We at ViralSection wanted to shed some light on the myths that many people still believe in. And internet users helped us with this.

  • That bread or cake won’t rise in the oven and will fall if you make loud noises while it’s baking. That’s a myth. You can listen to your music at full volume and it won’t affect the chemical processes taking place during the baking process. © agentprimus / Reddit

  • That pigs like mud. In fact, they are one of the cleanliest animals in the world. The reason they are often covered in mud is that they don’t have sweat glands and the mud helps keep them cool. © Minhaj Hassan / Quora
  • Lewis Carroll never named his character the “Mad Hatter.” In the original novel, he was simply called “The Hatter.” © Donjanelle Robinson / Quora

  • That the blood inside your body is blue until it’s exposed to oxygen. In fact, it’s always red, just different shades. Your veins look blue under your skin because of the way your skin absorbs light and reflects it back to your eyes. © Hilarious_83 / Reddit
  • The sum of the angles of a triangle is not always 180 degrees. All the stuff you learned in high school geometry is only true in perfectly flat, Euclidean geometry. In spherical geometry, for example, the sum of a triangle’s angles is going to be greater than 180 degrees. © Unknown author / Reddit
  • Ancient statues in Rome and Greece were actually ridiculously colorful, but we are used to seeing them marble-white because the paint just wore off over time. © Matt Miller / Quora

  • That if you leave your phone on the charger for a while after it hits 100%, then the battery capacity will reduce. In fact, that’s a myth. Modern smartphones manage the power very rationally. The fact that you leave the device connected to the power supply for a long time doesn’t affect the battery life. © Aabishkar Wagle / Quora
  • Ravens and crows are different birds, though they look pretty similar. Ravens are larger, they have longer and more pointed tails and wings, and stronger legs. Crows are smaller in size and they have a shorter fan or square-shaped tail. © astute_newt / Reddit
